Chicken Peanut Sauce Recipe with Chilli
Peanut sauce is traditionally used as a part of Indian,
Chinese, Thai and Japanese cuisines. Due to the easy
availability of peanuts in the Eastern cultures, this type of
sauce has been used as an accompaniment for foods for many
generations.
Basic ingredients for peanut sauce:
Butter
Garlic
Shallots
Water
Soy sauce
Peanut butter
Ginger
Chili sauce
Optional Ingredients:
Onions
Peppers
Notes about Ingredients:
Fresh ingredients tend to be most suitable for peanut
sauce.
Cooking instructions:
Any ingredients that require cooking, such as shallots,
garlic, onion and ginger, should be the first things cooked.
Trying to cook these in the peanut butter will result in them
being under cooked and lacking in the full flavor of properly
cooked spices.
Your regular spices, such as the chili sauce and any peppers
that you decide to use, should be added shortly after your
peanut butter, soy sauce, water, garlic, shallots, onions and
ginger reach a boil. You will want to watch the flavor of your
sauce carefully so that it is neither too mild or too spicy.
Traditional peanut sauce tends to be rather spicy, although
this can be modified depending on your needs.
Peanut sauce can have a range of thicknesses depending on
what you intend on using your sauce for. Once you have brought
all ingredients to a boil, you will need to watch your sauce
carefully. It will be up to you to determine when the sauce is
thick enough.
Jarring:
Peanut sauce can be jarred. After the sauce has been
prepared, you will want to sterilize your jars by boiling them
for at least ten minutes, then jarring your peanut sauce. After
the jars and sauce have completely cooled, the sauce should be
stored in the refrigerator. Peanut sauce may separate in the
refrigerator. If this happens, simply stir to recombine the
sauce.
While peanut sauce can be frozen, it can be extremely
difficult to revive to its full texture and flavor after being
stored in the freezer. Due to this, it is suggested that you
only store your peanut sauce in the refrigerator. Peanut sauce
can be stored for several weeks after being made.
Uses:
Peanut sauce can be used as a garnish, dipping sauce or
marinade for foods. It often accompanies dishes such as gyoza,
summer rolls, spring rolls and egg rolls. In addition to this,
it is often used as a stir fry sauce to add a spicy flavor.
